Samsung To Add NFT Marketplace On New Televisions Starting In 2022
Global electronics leader Samsung just announced a new series of televisions that will introduce non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to the masses. The company plans on integrating NFT support into a number of this year’s new televisions allowing Samsung TV owners the ability to browse, make purchases, and even display purchased NFTs on their screens, providing a similar service to NFT marketplaces like OpenSea.

Samsung made the announcement ahead of Consumer Electronics Show 2022, promising to release more details on their NFT platform when the televisions begin to ship in a few weeks. In a recent press release Samsung said,
“With demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater. In 2022, Samsung is introducing the world’s first TV screen-based NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator, a groundbreaking platform that lets you browse, purchase, and display your favorite art — all in one place.”
According to Samsung, their new integrated NFT platform will give creators the freedom and ability to “share their art with the world.” Samsung TV owners will be able to preview NFTs of interest before purchasing and can even use Samsung’s new platform to learn more about the history of NFTs and blockchain metadata.
Samsung’s NFT platform will have a Smart Calibration feature for display optimization, providing TV owners with the ability to adjust their display to match the settings to the creator’s preset values, giving users peace of mind that their purchased NFTs will always look impeccable, with true-to-the-original image quality.
2021 saw demand for NFTs and digital assets explode. NFTs alone accounted for a record high $23 billion in trading volume. Now global corporations like Samsung are jumping into the field betting that the trend will continue. In recent years, Samsung has shown interest and support for the crypto and blockchain industry. Over a year ago, the company offered up free Bitcoin (BTC) for every Samsung product purchased and launched the Samsung Blockchain Keystore and Samsung Blockchain Wallet. Now Samsung is looking to redefine the NFT space.
