Rodgers currently makes over $30 million annually and released the following statement on Monday via Instagram;
“Verified I’m excited about Bitcoin because I believe it’s the future of money: it’s valuable, super secure, and no one can mess with it. That’s why I’m teaming up with Cash App to take a portion of my salary in bitcoin today”.
He also announced his new partnership with Cash App,
“Bitcoin is new & the concept can be intimidating, so to make Bitcoin more accessible to my own fans I’m giving out a total of $1 million in btc now too.”
Rodgers finished his announcement by making a common rally cry,
“Bitcoin to the moon.”
Rodgers joins a growing list of sports stars who have decided to take a percentage of their salary or bonuses as Bitcoin instead of in dollars. With Bitcoin recently surging to record highs, it looks like a game altering decision.
