Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the latest sports figure to announce that they are jumping onto the crypto bandwagon. Rodgers recently let his fans know that he will be taking a percentage of his salary in Bitcoin while also giving away $1 million worth of the digital currency to his fans via a partnership with Cash App.
Rodgers currently makes over $30 million annually and released the following statement on Monday via Instagram;
“Verified I’m excited about Bitcoin because I believe it’s the future of money: it’s valuable, super secure, and no one can mess with it. That’s why I’m teaming up with Cash App to take a portion of my salary in bitcoin today”.
He also announced his new partnership with Cash App,
“Bitcoin is new & the concept can be intimidating, so to make Bitcoin more accessible to my own fans I’m giving out a total of $1 million in btc now too.”
Rodgers finished his announcement by making a common rally cry,
“Bitcoin to the moon.”
Rodgers joins a growing list of sports stars who have decided to take a percentage of their salary or bonuses as Bitcoin instead of in dollars. With Bitcoin recently surging to record highs, it looks like a game altering decision.
